The Denny-Sealth Steel Drum Class is a performing ensemble which performs at school and community events throughout the school year. Students in this mixed middle and high school class will learn the proper technique for playing the steel drums and get an introduction to basic musical concepts and terminology including learning to read pitch and rhythmic notation. Although we will do some music reading, the primary method for learning songs will be by rote. We will also take a brief look at the history of the steel drums and how the instruments developed over time in Trinidad and Tobago from slavery to today.
